Ways of seeing everyday objects anew. A transdisciplinary approach to unlearn what we think we know.

Familiar things tend to go unnoticed—they disappear into the fabric of our day-to-day lives. What might be learned from paying attention to everyday objects? How do we observe these things that would otherwise be overlooked?

GO TO THE ARCHIVE

The Observational Practices Lab asks researchers from diverse fields—at all stages in their careers—to conduct an observation of an everyday object and record their method(s). We use these as the basis for “Observation Scores”— a set of simple instructions we invite you to enact with whatever everyday object is a hand.

If you are interested in contributing to the observation score archive please send us an email.
