Think of an environment that made you feel ‘at home’ in the past. - — 2 —
immerse yourself in that very moment. Look at the details around you: What are key objects in your scene? What are the landmarks? Who are you with, if anyone? Are you happy, sad, or content? Is there any smell or taste associated with this moment? - — 3 —
Now, add your object into that setting. Where do you place it? Do you hold it in your hand? Is it next to you or distant? - — 4 —
Using pen and paper, map the environment. Focus on your object and its relations to everything surrounding it.
Erica Eisenberg is a MFA Transdisciplinary Design candidate at Parsons School of Design. (2019)
